Leaders, you need help. Your work is difficult. You’re expected to solve problems frequently. You’re required to make difficult decisions on a daily (hourly?!) basis. You have to lead a team when you are sometimes not clear on where you’re leading them. You have to support them even when you aren’t receiving enough support yourself. Because companies often don’t give leaders the support they need to solve their problems, make difficult decisions, and become better leaders. That’s why I’m writing a book about messy leadership problems, just for you!
I’ve been working with leaders as a coach, consultant and educator for around twenty years now. I’ve seen how difficult leadership can be. But I’ve also arrived at a formula that I think can help leaders survive this problem-filled landscape and thrive in it.
And so, I’m writing a book! The book will use my model of problem solving, 5E, which encourages leaders to Establish what problem they have, Explore it in more detail, Envision a suitable solution, Execute the solution, and then use their learning to Elevate their performance in this new area of strength.
I use this method to help leaders solve the ten most challenging, yet common, leadership problems that I see in my work. These include problems with Personal effectiveness, Decision Making, Influence, Culture and Values, Individual performance, Engagement, Team dynamics, Leading strategy, and Leading change.
If this book sounds interesting and you would like to join me on the writing journey, there are a number of things you can do:
- Provide a suggestion for the tenth problem I tackle! Yes, that’s right; I am crowdsourcing the tenth problem, based on what real leaders in the field think I am missing. You can submit your idea here.
- Sign up to my leadership problem-solving newsletter, Dear Katie, here. I’ll be talking about the bookwriting journey, and making announcements about publication dates, etc.
- Join my free ‘leadership problem solving’ workshop, which I’ll be running these on a regular basis going forward. Messaging me here and I’ll add your name to the list of interested people.
- If you are a leader with experience handling any of the problem areas, I’d love to hear from you. I’m incorporating case studies and quotes from real life leaders in each chapter of my new book, and so your input would be great. Contact me here.
